About Bethany Beach, DE - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Bethany Beach is in Sussex County, Delaware. It has only about 1,000 year-round residents. However, during the summer months about 15,000 vacationers inhabit the township. It is one of what are popularly recognized as "The Quiet Resorts" in the region, along with South Bethany and Fenwick Island. In spite of its petite size, Bethany Beach boasts the usual attractions of a beach resort area: a boardwalk, a sandy beach, motels and hotels, restaurants, shops bars, and beautiful vacation homes. In recent years, the town's beaches underwent a vast coastline replenishment agenda that has made it an even more popular destination in the warm months.
Natural splendor, culture, arts and historical significance can be seen all over this area. In the adjacent community Georgetown, they host Return Day each election year. The recently designated victors come down the main road in a procession of horse-drawn carriages and then both the winners and losers "bury the hatchet" in a container of sand. The Clear Space Theatre Company is a professional theater company in Rehoboth Beach that offers a program of musical and theatrical productions in the Rehoboth Theatre of the Arts – in every season. Taking in a show is a great way to pass the time when the weather is chilly and not so suitable for the beach. The town of Rehoboth Beach also holds many recurring events including: the Sea Witch Festival, the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, the Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival, and more.
However, if it history that you are after then this area will not fail you. The neighboring community of Milton has several of the most excellent examples of Victorian and Colonial structural design in the state. Many of the residences in the town have been refurbished and renovated to their original form. They include, but are not limited to:
- the Lydia Black Cannon Museum
- the Governor James Carey home
- the Chestnut Street Cemetery
- the Governor David Hazzard Mansion
Touring a few of these structures would be a fantastic way to pass the time with the kids on a nippy, wintry Delaware afternoon!
